Doing a little bit of research onto where to travel next in the future, I was thinking about revisiting Kawaii Monster Cafe. The cafe is located in Harajuku, Tokyo. I wanted to revisit because I enjoyed my time there before, but when I was looking for their website to see what menus they have nowadays, I found out instead that they are permanently closed. I wanted to show you this travel spot in Japan because there are not many places like this cafe, but sadly due to the pandemic they are closed. So in remembrance of Kawaii Monster Cafe, I wanted to share some photos of what the cafe was like. I only went a couple of times, but I had a fun experience.
Once you arrive to the cafe, you would have to pay an entrance fee of 500yen. Before being escorted to your seat, you would have witnessed the colorful and wonderland like theme inside. Your eyes will go everywhere because there is just so much to see.
Now, because this is a cafe we would have to expect the food right? They really outdid the presentation of the food because it was absolutely insane. Very colorful and it makes you wonder what flavor these foods are. They served foods like curry, pasta, burgers, salad, drinks, and dessert. Honestly speaking, eating their dish was hard because I was afraid of what I was going to taste. However, it didn’t taste too bad. I had the top two plates on the photo below. The rainbow pasta was very interesting because you can see on the side that it had condiments like ketchup and cheese. I actually forgot what the other color flavor was, but I remember that this was an interesting plate.
There were performances as well! The performers were dressed in their unique monster style. I love the variations of their costumes ranging from dark aesthetic to candy sweet. Definitely serving that Harajuku fashion.
My highlight was this one dessert that made me want to visit to this cafe in the first place. The reason behind this is because I saw it in a magazine. The dessert was called “Colorful Poison Parfait Extreme” which consisted of rainbow colors and many flavors to taste. The parfait consisted of cream flavors like strawberry, grape, melon, etc.. with ice cream and roll cake. It was definitely the ultimate dessert at this establishment. Definitely couldn’t eat this alone so sharing the parfait was the best choice.
Although the cafe was quite pricey, there are not many cafes like this and so it was worth the visit. I wish I had the chance to go again to capture more of their food. It makes me wonder if they will ever create another Kawaii Monster Cafe in the future. Either way I am glad to have the opportunity to have visited this cafe.
I actually filmed a mini vlog about it here ↓↓↓
All in all, Kawaii Monster Cafe was Kawaii (Cute) and Oshare (Stylish)♡
