Welcome back to the series of anime food in real life. I wanted to keep this series going because I enjoyed writing the Umaru-chan post I did here. I wanted to find more inspired anime foods, and so I came across the Ghilbi film Ponyo. In the Ponyo film, there was a scene where Ponyo and Sosuke was being served ramen by Sosuke’s mother. Which made me wanted to try making this ramen because it seemed very simple to make. So first lets get the ingredients…
Here I bought the 醤油とんこつラーメン/Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen/Pork Bone Broth Ramen for this project. In the movie, Sosuke’s mother actually used a wrapper that is similar to the popular instant ramen which is the チキンラーメン/chicken ramen. However, I wanted to use different ramen flavor and so I bought the Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen instead. If you wanted to make the exact replica of Ponyo’s Ramen buy the chicken ramen! Okay, now the other ingredients were boiled egg, chopped leek, and ham.
Now lets get cooking!
Step 1. Boil the noodles and drain the water
Step 2. Add Shoyu Tonkotsu sauce with the noodles
Step 3. Add boiled water
Step 4. Then add the toppings, half cut boiled egg, ham, and chopped leek
I posted a short video of me recreating the ramen right here on byte app. Now onto the result!
How did I do? I think I did alright. What I would have done differently would have been using the chicken ramen and using thicker ham to make it match to the movie. Either way it tasted good, its something I can make very quick with few ingredients, but it is not something I would like to eat very often. Maybe trying different flavor of ramen and using thicker ham might change my mind, but this was fun to recreate (I tried lol). Would you try recreating Ponyo’s ramen? If so let me know if you liked it or not.
All in all, Ponyo’s ramen was Kawaii (Cute) and Omoshiroi (Fun)♡
